Your Webflow site captures leads. Customer.io only sees half of them, or sees them with broken attributes. A form submits but no profile appears. A profile appears but the name sits in First_Name while your segments look for first_name. A welcome sequence never fires because the page that mattered never sent an event.
The fix is an integration that is engineered, not just pasted in. Every form submission and key page visit becomes a clean person profile and an event, and that event triggers the right campaign: email, SMS, push or in-app.
Overflow is a Webflow Certified Partner. We build the integration inside your site and your marketing system, test it, and hand it over documented so your team owns it.

What the Webflow and Customer.io integration does
Webflow collects the data. Customer.io decides what happens next.
Customer.io is a customer engagement platform. In plain words: it stores a profile for each person, records what they do, and sends messages by email, SMS, push or in-app based on that behavior. It is event-driven rather than list-driven, so you message people for what they did, not only for which list they joined.
Two examples of what that looks like on a Webflow site:
- A visitor signs up for your newsletter. Customer.io creates a person profile and starts a welcome sequence.
- A known contact visits your pricing page. Their attributes update and they move into a segment, so sales or lifecycle messaging can respond.
There is one practical requirement. Customer.io's Webflow forms integration needs a paid Webflow plan. It also needs custom code on your site, which is where a good build matters. See our guide to Webflow custom code and Webflow integrations in general.
What you get from Overflow
We deliver a working, tested setup, not a tutorial. The scope depends on your use cases, but it is built from these parts:
- Site-wide tracking snippet and forms snippet, installed correctly and published.
- Webflow forms mapped to Customer.io attributes with a naming convention, each tested with a test person before real submissions arrive.
- Visitor identification, including from email click-throughs, where it fits your campaigns.
- Optional in-app messaging and behavioral events from key pages, such as pricing or demo pages.
- Optional CMS, webhook and API flows when the use case needs server-side work.
- Documentation so your marketing team owns the setup and can change it without us.
That last point is how we work. We aim for ownership, not dependency. You keep the site, the data model and the documentation.
How the integration works: three ways to connect
Customer.io is not in the Webflow Apps Marketplace, so there is no one-click app. The connection runs through JavaScript snippets, the forms integration, or APIs. The right method depends on the use case, and many setups combine two.
1. JavaScript snippets
Customer.io gives you two snippets, and they do different jobs. The tracking snippet handles page views, visitor identification and in-app messaging. The separate forms snippet captures form submissions and creates person profiles from the submitted fields. You install each one on its own. Using only the tracking snippet will not capture form submissions, and using only the forms snippet will not track page views or support in-app messages. Details are in the Customer.io docs and on Webflow's Customer.io integration page.
Each submission is recorded as a form_submit event, which can trigger a campaign.
2. Webhooks and APIs
When you need server-side work, you route submissions through a webhook or call the Customer.io APIs directly. Customer.io itself suggests its /forms API for backend integrations, whenever you want to capture submissions outside the client-side snippet. This is the route for syncing CMS data or tracking events that should not depend on a visitor's browser.
3. No-code tools like Zapier
Tools like Zapier can create or update a Customer.io person when a Webflow form is submitted. That is enough for a simple form to profile flow. It is not enough when you need page view tracking, visitor identification or in-app messaging, because those need the snippet. See our Webflow Zapier integration page for when automation tools fit.
Which method fits
- JavaScript snippets: best for page views, identify, form capture and in-app messages. Effort: low to medium. Limits: runs in the browser, so it needs a published site and correct form markup.
- Webhooks and APIs: best for server-side events, CMS sync and custom logic. Effort: medium to high. Limits: needs development and maintenance.
- No-code tools: best for simple form to profile flows. Effort: low. Limits: no page tracking or in-app, and task-based pricing and delays can add up.
Where Webflow to Customer.io setups usually go wrong
Most broken setups fail in the same few places. Each one is on our QA checklist.
- Only one snippet is installed. Forms or page views go missing. We check that both snippets are present where they should be.
- The code is not published. Custom code does not run in the Webflow canvas preview. We test on the published site, not in the Designer.
- Attribute names are case sensitive. Customer.io treats
first_nameandFirst_Nameas two different attributes that never merge, which breaks segments and triggers. We set one naming convention and map every form to it. Customer.io recommends the same in its attribute docs. - In-app messaging is off by default. It must be enabled in your workspace, and the snippet needs the in-app setting for it to work. Visitors also need to be identified to receive messages. We check all three.
We also test each form with a test person, as Customer.io advises, so no real lead is the first test.
Our process
- Audit. We review your Webflow forms, the attributes you need and the campaigns you want to trigger.
- Design. We define the data model and an event plan: which fields, which names, which events, which segments.
- Implement. We build it in Webflow, connect it to Customer.io and test with test submissions.
- Hand over. You get documentation and training, so your team can add forms and campaigns on its own.
We don't promise a fixed timeline or a specific result. Scope depends on how many forms, events and flows you need, and we give you clear costs and timings upfront once we've seen your setup.

Who this is for
This is for you if:
- You are a B2B marketing lead or founder who uses Webflow for lead capture, and Customer.io (or are considering it) for lifecycle messaging.
- You run a SaaS company with Webflow acquisition pages and post-signup automation, and need the two to share clean data.
It is not for you if you only want a tool recommendation or a do-it-yourself tutorial. Customer.io's own docs cover the steps well. We are the right fit when you want it built, tested and owned by your team.
Webflow Customer.io integration FAQ
Does Webflow have a native Customer.io integration?
Not as a one-click app. Customer.io is not listed in the Webflow Apps Marketplace. The connection runs through JavaScript snippets, the forms integration or APIs.
Do I need a paid Webflow plan?
Yes for the forms integration. Customer.io states you must have a paid Webflow plan. Site-level and page-level custom code, which the snippets rely on, also needs a paid site plan.
Can Customer.io capture Webflow form submissions?
Yes. Scan the form in Customer.io, map its fields to attributes and install the custom forms snippet. Each submission is then recorded as a form_submit event that can trigger a campaign. The form fields need name attributes.
Can I use Zapier instead?
For simple form to profile flows, yes. For page view tracking, visitor identification or in-app messaging you need the snippet. See our Zapier integration page.
Will it affect page speed?
Any added script has a cost, so we install only what your use cases need. The Customer.io tracking snippet loads its script asynchronously. Read more in our guide to Webflow page speed.
Can you integrate other tools such as HubSpot, Klaviyo or Mailchimp instead?
Yes. See our HubSpot, Klaviyo and Mailchimp integration pages, or browse all Webflow integrations.
