The Figma file is approved. Stakeholders have signed off. Then the build stalls. Classes come through named 'Frame 47', layouts break on mobile, fonts disappear and the interactions never arrive. The design was never the problem. The handoff is the bottleneck.
So what is the Webflow Figma integration? It's the free Figma to Webflow plugin plus a companion Webflow app, both built by Webflow Labs. Together they sync auto layout frames, components, variables and text and effect styles from Figma into Webflow as elements, components, variables and classes.
That gives you a structural starting point, not a production site. The CMS, interactions, responsive polish, SEO and integrations still get built in Webflow. The plugin moves layers. We engineer the system behind them.
At Overflow, we design your Figma design system so it syncs cleanly. Then we build the Webflow site, the CMS and the connections around it, and hand it to your marketing team. It's part of Playbook 01, our B2B Marketing Website.
- Ship the approved design without a rebuild. What stakeholders signed off is what goes live.
- Keep Figma and Webflow speaking the same language. Shared variables, class names and components on both sides.
- Publish new pages without developers. Marketing builds from approved blocks in the CMS.
Let's talk about your Figma file. Or first see how we build B2B websites in Webflow.
What is the Webflow Figma integration?
The Webflow Figma integration is a free, two-part integration from Webflow Labs. A Figma plugin reads your design file, and a Webflow app (Design System Sync, listed as the Figma to Webflow app) receives and imports what you sync.
According to the Webflow Help Center, the plugin is organised into three tabs:
- Layers: exports Figma frames and components to Webflow elements and components.
- Variables: exports Figma variables to Webflow variables.
- Styles: exports Figma text and effect styles to Webflow classes.
There are two ways to move work across. You can copy and paste a layer straight onto the Webflow canvas, which pastes components as plain elements. Or you can sync layers through the app, which creates real Webflow components you can re-sync later when the design changes.
Neither side needs a paid plan to use it. Webflow's integration page states the plugin has 384k users and 7.9k ratings on the Figma Community. It also notes the plugin runs under Webflow Labs terms: actively developed, with known limitations and features still being added. That matters when you plan a production build around it.
What the plugin moves, and what it leaves for the build
The plugin is useful. It's also honest about its limits. Here's the split, based on the Webflow Help Center article on the Figma to Webflow plugin and app, and Webflow's own Figma integration page. Both are actively updated under Webflow Labs terms, so check them for the latest status.
What syncs
- Auto layout frames become responsive flexbox structures.
- Layer names become Webflow classes. Every single one.
- Variables, one collection and mode at a time, in px, em or rem units.
- Components synced through the app arrive as Webflow components.
- Images and vector icons are uploaded to the Assets panel.
- Text and effect styles become classes, with an optional prefix so you can spot them.
- HTML tags, assigned from layer names (a layer called 'heading' becomes an H1, 'button' becomes a link) or set manually: H1 to H6, Div and P for text, plus Section and Link for auto layout elements.
What's still built in Webflow
- Frames without auto layout don't sync at all.
- Figma variants (responsive, state and style) aren't supported, and Webflow's integration page lists component instances as unsupported too.
- Variable modes, such as light and dark themes, can't sync yet. Webflow says this is on the Webflow Labs roadmap.
- Custom fonts must be uploaded to Webflow before you sync, or they're lost.
- Safari isn't supported. Use Chrome or the Figma desktop app.
- Interactions and animations from Figma prototypes don't transfer.
Responsiveness is partly covered. For each layer you can pick when it stacks vertically: tablet, mobile landscape or mobile portrait. You can't set this on layers under 250px wide. Every breakpoint still needs a real test with real content.
Webflow also recommends syncing a few components or sections at a time on large pages, not the whole page at once.
So is the plugin a shortcut or a mess? That depends almost entirely on how the Figma file was built. That's the part we engineer.
Where Figma to Webflow builds usually go wrong
If you've watched a Figma to Webflow handoff go sideways, the causes are usually the same. None of them are exotic. They come from treating the integration as a button instead of a process.
Messy classes
Every layer name becomes a class. A file full of unnamed layers turns into class soup: 'Frame 112', 'Group 9', 'Rectangle 4'. The site may look fine on launch day. Six months later nobody can change a button without breaking three other pages.
Class conflicts
Paste a Figma layer called 'Button' into a site that already has a 'Button' class and you get three choices:
- Create a new class (the default). You get 'Button 2'.
- Reuse the existing class. The Webflow styling stays.
- Update the existing class. The Figma styling overwrites it, everywhere it's used.
Paste on autopilot and the default wins. Do that for a few weeks and you have 'Button 2' through 'Button 9'.
Sync conflicts in the app
Delete an element in Figma that still exists in Webflow and the app asks you to decide. Accept the change and the element is removed in Webflow. Create a new component and you keep it, but syncing ends. Or revert the change in Figma. Each option is fine. Choosing without a rule is not.
Missing variants
Because variants don't sync, one Figma frame per state or size becomes a separate Webflow component. Without a plan upfront, a single card can arrive as five components that drift apart over time.
The bigger miss
The most expensive mistake isn't technical. It's a pixel-perfect import with no CMS model, no SEO structure and no plan for who publishes. The site looks exactly like the design. And every new case study still needs a developer.
What a stalled build looks like when it's fixed
Nedcargo came to us with a stalled WordPress project. Instead of patching the old build, we moved it to Webflow with a clear process and a design system built for the platform. It went from stalled to live in 4 weeks and launched with a Lighthouse score of 98 for performance and 100 for SEO. The lesson carries over to any Figma handoff: a stalled build is usually a process problem, not a design problem.
What you get when Overflow runs your Webflow Figma integration
We don't sell 'we install the plugin'. We engineer a system where the Figma file, the Webflow build and your marketing team work from the same rules. Here's what that includes.
A Figma design system built to sync
Auto layout throughout. A naming convention that becomes a clean Webflow class system. Variables for colour, type and spacing, organised in named collections. Text styles mapped to classes. We plan the component structure around the lack of variant support, so states and sizes don't multiply into duplicate components. More on how we approach a Webflow design system and Webflow variables.
A Webflow build, not just an import
We use the plugin where it saves time: tokens, styles and simple components. Complex layouts, CMS templates and interactions we build natively in Webflow. The method follows the result, not the other way round. Custom fonts are set up before the first sync, interactions are built in Webflow and every breakpoint gets responsive QA.
Our published case results show Lighthouse performance scores between 95 and 98+ at launch. Nedcargo, for example, launched at 98 for performance and 100 for SEO. These are the scores we published for each project at launch, not a guarantee for yours: Lighthouse results vary with content, scripts and third-party tools added later. Read more about Webflow components and Webflow classes.
A CMS your marketing team can publish on
Your Figma page designs become Webflow CMS collections and CMS templates. New case studies, insights and service pages come from approved blocks. Component properties expose the content fields editors need, without letting them break the structure underneath.
SEO and AI Search built into the components
Heading hierarchy, semantic HTML tags set during sync, schema, internal linking patterns and author blocks are part of the components from day one. Not added after launch. This is where our AI Search playbook comes in: structure that helps search engines and AI systems like ChatGPT and Perplexity interpret your pages. We don't promise rankings. We build the foundation that gives your content a fair chance. See our Webflow SEO services and how we handle schema markup in Webflow.
Connections to your marketing stack
Forms, CRM and analytics are wired in, so the design ships with a working pipeline behind it. That might be a Webflow HubSpot integration, a Webflow Salesforce integration or another tool from our Webflow integrations hub.
A handover that keeps Figma and Webflow aligned
We document who syncs what, how to resolve app conflicts and which classes to reuse, so future Figma updates don't break the live site. You get live training, video tutorials and written docs. We aim to create ownership, not dependency: you keep the Figma file, the Webflow site and the documentation.
Plugin, manual build or both: how we choose
There's no single right way to get from Figma to Webflow. We pick the route per project, and often per section.
- Plugin-led: a clean, component-driven Figma file, simpler pages and a team that wants ongoing design system sync between Figma and Webflow.
- Manual-led: complex layouts, a long-lived site and a heavy CMS model, where hand-built structure pays off over years of edits.
- Hybrid: most B2B sites. We sync tokens, styles and simple components, then build templates, CMS structures and interactions natively.
Already have a Figma file from another designer? We audit it first for auto layout, naming and component structure. If the file is solid, we work with it rather than pushing a full redesign. If parts need rework, we tell you which ones and why.
No Figma file yet? Then Playbook 01 starts where it should: strategy and positioning, then a Figma design system built for Webflow from the first frame. You can read more about how we approach Webflow integrations in general.
How we deliver: from Figma file to live Webflow site
Every B2B website project follows the same six steps, so you always know what happens next.
- Strategy and discovery. We audit your current site, map your content and agree on positioning and goals. You get a clear plan before anything is designed.
- Scalable design system. We build the design system in Figma, structured to sync cleanly. You get components and variables your team can reuse.
- Webflow development. We build the site with responsive layouts, custom interactions and integrations. You get a full Webflow build, not a raw import.
- Content migration. We move your content, set up redirects and protect your SEO authority. You keep the visibility you've earned.
- Quality assurance. We test every breakpoint, form and template. You launch without surprises.
- Handover to marketing. Training, documentation and support. Your team runs the site without relying on developers.
Most website projects take six to eight weeks. Recent builds went live in four to eight weeks. The exact timeline depends on scope, content, integrations and how quickly feedback comes back.
Coming from WordPress or HubSpot CMS? We handle the Webflow migration too, with redirects mapped and SEO equity protected. Here's how a WordPress to Webflow migration works.
Proof from B2B teams we've built for
A few recent builds, with the numbers we've published. Scores are the Lighthouse results we published for each project at launch.
- BlinkLab: a medtech company that needed one platform for investors, clinical researchers and families. Strategy to launch in 7 weeks. BlinkLab later raised $17.5M; the website didn't raise that capital, but it gave every audience the evidence it needed.
- Nedcargo: a stalled WordPress project migrated to Webflow in 4 weeks, launching with a 98 Lighthouse performance score and 100 for SEO.
- A neurosurgery website: build to launch in 6 weeks, with a performance score of 96 at launch.
- A multi-product group going international: kick-off to launch in 4 weeks, with a 95+ performance score at launch.
What clients say:
- "Communication was always smooth and fast, the quality of their work was excellent, and they're great guys to work with." Marketing Manager, Informer Group
- "Communication is excellent, and they keep their promises." Quinten van der Kraaij, Founder, BeFesti

What does a Webflow Figma integration project cost?
We don't publish a fixed price, because a Figma to Webflow integration is scoped as part of a website build. You get the cost and timeline upfront, before work starts. No funnies, no surprises.
What drives the scope:
- The state of your Figma file. A sync-ready file needs less work than a new design system built from scratch.
- Templates and CMS collections. How many page types and content types your team needs.
- Interactions. Each one is built natively in Webflow.
- Integrations. CRM, marketing automation and analytics connections.
- Content migration. How much content moves from your current site, and how many redirects.
- Languages. Each extra locale adds content and QA.
Some costs sit with you directly: your Webflow Site or Workspace plan and your Figma seats. The plugin and the app themselves are free.
Webflow Figma integration FAQ
Is the Figma to Webflow plugin free?
Yes. It's built by Webflow Labs, and no paid plan is needed on either side to use the plugin or the app. To publish your site on your own domain, you still need a Webflow Site plan.
Does the Figma to Webflow plugin transfer interactions and animations?
No. Figma prototyping and animations don't carry over. They're rebuilt with Webflow interactions. More on Webflow animations.
Does it support Figma variants?
No. Responsive, state and style variants aren't supported. Separate frames become separate components, so plan the component structure before you sync.
Can I keep Figma and Webflow in sync after launch?
Yes. The companion app lets you re-sync components, variables and styles, and review each change before importing. When something conflicts, you choose to accept it, create a new component (which ends syncing) or revert in Figma. Variable modes, such as light and dark themes, can't sync yet.
Why do my fonts or images go missing after syncing?
Usually because custom fonts weren't uploaded to Webflow before the sync, so they're lost. Images only land in Assets if the correct site is selected in the plugin's site dropdown.
Why isn't the plugin working?
The most common causes are using Safari (switch to Chrome or the Figma desktop app), frames without auto layout, and syncing too much at once. Sync a few sections at a time on large pages.
Should my site live in Figma Sites or Webflow?
We use Figma as the design tool and Webflow as the website platform. For a B2B site that needs a mature CMS, SEO controls and integrations with your CRM, we build in Webflow. See our platform comparisons for how Webflow stacks up against other options.
Can you work with a Figma file another designer made?
Yes, after an audit of auto layout, naming and components. We tell you what syncs as is and what we rebuild.
Ready to turn your Figma design into a site marketing owns?
An approved design shouldn't stall in the handoff. With a Figma file built to sync and a Webflow build engineered around your CMS, SEO and marketing stack, the design goes live as signed off. The system stays clean. And your team publishes without waiting on a developer.
